None of them or all of them. The patent is only a paper starting point. As with all patents, remember that there is no need to actually build a unit to patent it. This may be a theoretical model only rather than a production patent.

It's the theory in the description that makes it valuable. There are not going to be too many patents with full schematics in them.

Garrett is one of the most tight lipped of them all.

I've been looking for something that resembles the Garrett S3 American for a long time.   Great

Individual models are not often patented. This patent, for example, is not for a particular model but for the concept of a detachable battery pack and speaker system. It could be used on any detector or none at all. A patent is not a report of a design but a means to protect a process, concept or design.

Bits and pieces of theory emerge from those patents. Not much in the way of a schematic though. At most you will see a block diagram now and again or a stylized schematic.

I've been trying to find out what patent (if any) covers the design of the Garrett coaxial deepseeker coils - anyone know?

I've found something that suggests Garrett patented a particular coil winding system in (about) 1968 that eliminated searchcoil drift in coaxial coils. This seems a little early to apply to the Deepseeker coils... but I can't find that patent either.

Any patent numbers that may be relevant would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul.

As you go through the patents, make note of the engineer's names. Then search for patents made by those individuals. All of the metal detector companies do that. They hide the patents of their company products in the name of some of their principle design engineers. White's, Garrett, Fisher, Minelab - they all do it. So jot down those names and search on the designers to see what comes up.

And then look for the Assignee Name! Great

This is the name of person or Corp that bought it.

Thank you. I meant to add that but forgot. Just gave the dog a shampoo and he's not happy. Sort of distracted by his complaining here in the office.

Aha. I now understand why they charge so much for patent searches - I have close to zero patience for this kind of stuff!!
