I just picked up a Garrett Ultra GTA 1000 with a set of Garrett Master Sound headphones. Is this a good unit to swing at the beach? Does it get very deep? It is in mint condition and has many features that are on today's newer units......and the price was right.  Detecting

Thank you for the manual. I took the garrett to hampton Beach to try it out. I works well until I get to wet sand. Then I get false signals. I guess it's a better machine in the dry sand or in good old dirt. While I was there, I took a video of the Hampton Beach new construction. Here is a link

Thanks for the video of Hampton Beach. Haven't been there since 1968!!   Looks like they  are rebuilding everything!  Might be some good finds in the construction areas.

I hear that the new Garrett AT Pro will be something to look into..... Good for newbies and also for pro's. I think that I will try one when they come out in November. How long have you used your GTA 1000? I just got mine and haven't had a chance to use it very much.......

I used to live in New Castle, Indy. and went to Chrysler High School many years ago. My Cousin was an All American for Indiana University. Where do you go Metal detecting? Plenty of farms & fields out there.

Happy Hunting..

Go Up Go Down

I got my GTA  about two months ago as a backup because my Whites 5900 Di Pro crapped out last Dec. and I had no backup . It took over a month to get it back from Whites and a lot of BS everytime I called which was only three calls. The GTA1000 is so much fun to use and the light weight really helps. It seams I grab it first now and I'm really inpressed at the quality of the unit and amazed at the finds I've found just in my front yard. I found stuff that I think my Whites misses but who knows it's a  acre yard.  just remember keep digging dirt
