What size coils do you end up using for your 2500?

All I got is the the stock coil, and I want to know if it's worth getting another one or two.

For really trashy areas, it's usually best to go to a smaller coil. A big coil will allow you to get more depth out of a detector. I've read revues on the 2500...sounds like really neat machine. I've held a 1500 and the fellow who owned it told me it could detect some coins down to 9 inches or more...but he did say a fisher CZ-5 0R CZ-6 was better on depth and I've owned both and they are absolutely DEEP! But I'd bet the 2500 is really good unit.

I have had a 2500 for several years. I love it. I use the standard search coil that came with it most of the time. I have a 4" for very trashy areas like picnic areas. It seems like it takes forever to cover a area the size of a picnic table. The only time I have used the 12" coil was when looking for a pipe line that crossed my property. Found it at about 30 ". The coil makes the detector hard to swing for a old man. Garrett Co. is the best. I flat wore out a 1500. I took it to Garrett in  Garland, Tx. (80 miles from home) They replaced the touch pad, lower stem. and search coil while I waited.  retuned the machine. No charge!!!!!  It worked like the first day I had it. Great... The people there are super.

Hi all

It might work for coins but for bigger and deeper targets....GTI 2500 with eagle eye deep pinpointer is a loss of time, I had one and drove me almost crazy...had to sell it for half of its price
