Hi,

i just bought the AT Pro today because the front panel is so well laid out and the operation is easy. It has the AT 250 built in and then goes farther with the Pro mode too!
Haven't taken it out yet, but tomorrow I will for sure. (Unless I have to see my tax man)   Club

As I write this, I am eager to try it out but will read the fantastic manual first  Shocked

You have many happy hours ahead of you!

Why does that sound like a fortune cookie? Actually, your choice of a machine is excellent for a number of reasons. I split your post from the other topic so it would get more attention and comments. I don't have an AT Pro but it has long been on my list of future machines - if and when I hit Lotto, that is.

You will like the AT Pro.
Suggestion use it for a few hours in the dry sand in standard mode.
Why? That way you can get used to the difference between the DD coil and the ACE 250 coil feedback on targets. A simple way to look at it is the center section of the DD coil acts like a separator left/right side. really fast response and separation.

When you get used to that then try pro mode in coin for a short while. Then go to pro mode and use the built in settings getting used to the iron sounds. Total difference in sounds. Let your ear get used to the three different sounds low/med/high.

Now just for fun and learning throw a bottle cap on the sand. Approach it left/right and listen to the iron audio sounds.

Now place a coin and try pin pointing see how close it responds to centering.

Now you will be better prepared for what you cannot see under the sand.
Also the sounds in pro mode will me better understood.

See a earlier post I put up on working the AT Pro in the surf.
Also one on connector issue.

Have fun and leave a little gold for me.

Enjoy your new MD get's great battery life. I Love that fact. Plus it finds a pocketful of stuff to take home.

I have an AT Pro and I like it a bunch. I have started running it in standard mode until I get a signal, and then I switch it over to pro mode. I like that because pro mode distinguishes between bottle caps and coins very well. Occasionally, I don't believe the tone and dig up the target. Then I put the dug  bottle cap in my trash bag for later deposit in a handy trash can. Undecided

Think hard, mate! Surely there's something you can trade off with her. Let her take the keys to her new Lexus early and she  may let you open yours!
