Go Up Go Down

Well it has been a while since I have been active on here or gone detecting. Last year was rough, things have since settled down a bit.
It started in March 2010 when I donated a kidney to my oldest brother, that took a while to get over! But with awesome results so it was worth what I had to go thru, Then my dad passed away a month later, and I had to move to Ga!
So now I live here in Ga, do not know the area or anybody so it makes me wishing I could go detecting but not knowing where to go, do not know the laws for Ga and detecting yet.
I do have a 189 acre with old home place ready for me to  Detecting only problem is it is 350 miles from me! So I guess a vacation is in my near future! I am chopping at the bit to go hunt this place!
 Anyway I am back!

Welcome back. You surely have a mixture of good and bad news there. Sorry for the loss of your dad. Happy for your successful donation.

Still got that chopper of yours?

Hey GoldDigger...no I sold when I moved to Ga, it had only been two months since the operation and I couldn't figure out how to get it moved...someone came up and offered cash so I took it...kinda regret it now but oh well! LOL

If you really love the ride, you'll have another one soon enough.

You're in the cradle of the Civil War with parks that are centuries old. You're surrounded by forests where both Union and Confederates camped before doing battle.

Just watch out for snakes. Lots of snakes in Georgia.

I lived in Albany for 3 years back in the early 1970s and loved it. Lived only a half mile from the Flint River just about the time when the alligators were making a comeback. Hooked a huge largemouth bass there and when I was reeling it in, a gator took it.

I cut the line.

Fortunately most of the snakes there are harmless and even useful for keeping the vermin population under control. I did have a really aggressive water moccasin try to get into my boat once. I was fortunate enough to have a few live crickets on hand to toss in the water which distracted it. Snakes eat them and the sight of them swimming in the water must have confused it for a few seconds while I rowed away. Started my motor and off we went.

Garter snakes, grass snakes and the lovely milk snake are all useful around the yard for keeping pests down but they can scare the diapers off of you in a second when they surprise you.
