Go Up Go Down

Hello all

Here is another scenic ghost town remains slowly dissolving back to nature. High up in the mountains up on the snowline. Its fate like many was linked to the fortunes of the mine that created the town.

I cannot imagine a colder place to live and work. I take my hat off to those who worked and lived in such cold and remote high places.

Hardluck  Huh?

Colorado has some amazing vistas in those Rocky Mountains. I drove through them a few years back coming from Colorado Springs to Idaho and up on top it was incredibly beautiful and when I got out of the car so bloody cold I could hardly stand it. Still a lot of great history out there, wish I had more time to spend checking it out. Thanks for sharing it Hardluck Smiley

They are all over aren't they?

So many places died out west when the precious metals dried up or more often just wasn't profitable to mine anymore. Most are in some rugged country and with no support system people just moved away. Some like Roosevelt Idaho near Thunder Mountain died suddenly. That one was flooded when a mudslide dammed up the creek. Part of the town used to be visible under the lake, not sure if it still is. Many of the ones here are buzzing with folks again since the price of gold is up. Not so many live in the tent cities anymore though hehe now they have RVs!
