A few of us went detecting in a old town (goast town) called awanka, a town in South Dakota.  We found a silver spoon.  It was exciting.

I think that ghost towns in general bear a higher chance of finding relics however many of them have been detected all over with little to nothing left.

Christian

I can let my imagination run wild at what might have been, even tho the finds may be few and of little value, I think of the old timers and their trials, troubles, Yes to me it's just the  ULTIMATE,  here's some finds at an old place in the western US mountains, junk, =but the stories it could tell if it could talk Detecting

I think ghost towns can still have potential. Really depends on the size of the town among other factors. Just like gold nugget patches rarely get worked out- the same applies to ghost towns. A lot of relics, coins, etc are missed because they might be too deep- get mixed up with other junk and discriminated out, etc. Just like the nugget patches- better technology keeps uncovering good finds. Of course at some point in time- they will become worked out but I really believe we have yet to reach that point with most ghost towns.

By the way- most people associate ghost towns with western states and that's a false assumption. There's plenty of ghost towns in Mid and Eastern USA.
