Hello All

Here is another old mining ghost town in New Mexico called Mogollon. The fate of this ghost town like others was based upon the fate of the mines around it.has anyone have any information on what was mined there?

Hello protech4471

I am glad you like those places. Until I started researching I did not know how many ghost towns there is. American has an amazing history of ghost towns.

I hope you got enough time to see all the wonderful places.

They mined both gold and silver there.

Unless they've seriously improved the road to Mogollon, you don't want to try it in an underpowered vehicle or if you have any issues with  very narrow roads snaking through mountains with no guardrails and few pull outs.  I once tried to make it there in a seriously underpowered Ford Mustang, but had to call it quits 3/4ths of the way up the mountain.

thanks for the info
i am a diehard detectorist.   i have found hundreds of rings over the years (all in or near water though ).  even though i have never detected any ghost town & obviously a lot are private-state or federal.   ghost towns have always been an interest to me.   we even have them in MI but they aren't like the old west.  most are left with very few bldgs or none at all.
