. . . when I start counting the candles on my cake. I

Your tame birthday bot reminded me that it was my birthday yesterday (20th) so I thought I'd show you all what I got.

My daughter wanted to have us round for a celebratory meal, so of course that's what happened.  She learned from a Mexican friend how to cook in their inimitable style, so after a really nice meal I've had heartburn all night until I finally decided to get up at 3 in the morning for a cup of hot milk to try and quell the flames  Shocked

Imagine my surprise though, when after the fiery meal my wife presented me with an incredible birthday cake she had had specially made for me.

She works in a primary school here in the UK, where their progressive head teacher has a sugarcraft lady come in to help small groups of pupils to try their little hands at making cake decorations. She gets on really well with the sugarcraft lady, so asked her to make me a metal detecting themed cake. I was really touched (anybody who knows me will readily agree that I'm 'touched . . . ') so thought I'd share it with everybody on here.

It depicts a detectorist taking an obviously well-deserved break, sitting on a rock surrounded by gold coins and rings. My thinking is that the scene must be set on a beach and that the gold coins would be upwards of a foot across when taken in scale with the detectorist.

My ambition now is to find that beach . . .   Wink

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Certainly is a one-of-a-kind cake and the last thing I was expecting to see . . .  Wink

Now here's the thing. I'm the guy whose big sister bought him a really nice chocolate egg for Easter in 1958, and  didn't have the heart to open it because it was so nice; all wrapped up in gold foil and a big ribbon. Still got in a drawer upstairs . . . So the jury's still out on the cake  Wink
