I found what appears to be a silver bead bracelet. I dug it up from about 3 inches. It was very shiney with nos signs of rust anywhere or any signs that it is plated. It's very heavy. On the clasp is a small inscription in raised numbers "925". Could this be silver and how could I really tell? It weighed in at .9 on my scale but my scale only weighs in the 10ths.

Marked 925 is a silver mark, Coming out of the ground shiney is what I have a problem with, silver will tarnish very fast in the ground. Can you post a picture of it.

Hi Pulltabhunter, Sounds like a nice bracelet. 925 is sterling silver - a silver alloy containing 92.5% silver and usually 7.5% copper. Sue

Thanks Sue and Seldom. It's one of my nicer finds. Seldom my pics won't post on here but I will email it to you if you can somehow get me your email. By the way I live in New Caney Texas. I would love to go detecting with you in Galveston someday so you can give me a few pointers.

Enjoyed seeing a picture of the bracelet. It looks like maybe a craftsman made it. Easy to see how it could have been easily lost with that type of fastening device. I like the bracelet and think it would feel nice on the wrist. Cool! Sue
