 Detecting
Just called the pa.s
dept. of state parks yesterday and got a reply on metal detecting in them,
And I Quote:
We allow metal detecting in state parks, But you must check in with the park office to let them know that you are there and where you would like to search. end quote:
They frown upon detecting around old foundations of buildings because they want to preserve the historical aspects of the area archeaologist could and will stop to ask questions,( hang on to your equipment and cash), be sure not to detect on park beaches during peak seasons, they want the campers etc. to enjoy their time there.
If you find anything over a hundred years old, you must take it to the park office and tell them where it was found, they will determine if you will be allowed to keep the find. (archaeologist again).
Hope this clears up questions as to t-hunting in Pa. State Parks.

jcbroj9........thanks.   Appreciate the leg work and the detailed report.

If you don't mind, I'm going to copy it and post it to the Pennsylvania Sub-board, just in case anyone goes looking there (unless you want to post it there yourself)
