Hello everyone
Here is a treasure legend from India.
India is land of very extreme contrasts of extreme poverty and extreme wealth. During the time of the many conflicts and uprisings during Britain's rule of India. Substantial amounts of treasure has been known to the buried.
India was and still is a big consumer of gold. Even today banks are not very well trusted as the time honored tradition of saving in India is by hoarding gold. Billions are known and still hoarded by the general population.
But in the historical days of Moguls, princes and the rajahs many large fortunes were buried by the ultra wealthy in the time of war and uprising.
One such story made the papers when India was still the jewel in the crown of the British Empire in 1931.
There was a report in Calcutta that an immense treasure worth 125 million pounds lies buried in a cave near Dearwar in Bahawapal State North West India.
An Indian man by the name of Dewan Laxmichand negotiated with the local ruler on the division of the treasure if any was found.
There was no follow up story and nothing was mentioned if there was a recovery or not.
It is not the only treasure story to come out of India. It just goes to show all cultures have stories of hidden treasure.
