Good day to everyone,

I am VERY NEW to all of this and am thinking about MDing and Trail Marker searches.  Does anyone have any pertinent info, in regards to these catagories, in the Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado area?  ANY help/input would be greatly appreciated. (ie. eg. - ghost towns, outlaw stories, folk lore, etc)

Thanks much,

Dominick

Dominck, the information you need is closer than you think. Your research will lead you to places that most of us only dream of.

Contact your local historical society for information. It is not a bad idea to join the society to get access to documents from the foundation days of Colorado Springs. You will find information about early land grants, deeds, property demarcations, mine permits and electoral rolls. Any of them can and will provide leads to treasure large and small. You will use every mental tool you have to find leads and your trip to the end game of discovery will fascinate you endlessly. Unfortunately, you have chosen a hobby that will infect your being for the rest of your life. Download the attachment below and print a copy for your office wall.

May God have mercy on you.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

My pleasure. Enjoy your life as a treasure hunter. You are infected now. Go and spread your disease.

Besides the tips GD gave you, make it a habit to pick up old maps whenever and where ever you can.   They'll put you on the trail to lost towns, fairgrounds, old unused roads, etc.
