We are following a Japanese Imperial Army treasure... any body who can share Japanese treasure codes?

Need help in deciphering this... We found it engraved on a rock 8 ft below the ground as the first signs we found suggest..

In a Japanese code book "Y" is a joint of streams with current... (Its where our excavation is....) "/" or the bar beside it is a measurement but the circle with two horizontal lines is what we don't know... please help....  the sign looks exactly as attached.

Go Up Go Down

Hello!

I know absolutely nothing of Japanese symbols, but when I looked at your login symbol it reminded me of something I read once about yin and yang.  I had to go look it up again because I couldn't remember it exactly.   This may just be a real long shot, but isn't Yang  signified with a long line "_"?  Two lines (like a long equal sign) means more or greater yang.  Yang when it comes to a location means the south slope of a mountain or north bank of a river.   I believe two lines means more south on a mountain or more north on the bank of the river.   Sorry if this is a stupid suggestion, but you said you were escavating near a river.

I did do a quick search of various alphabets, over a few symbols databases, and even some japanese map symbols, but I couldn't find anything with the circle and two lines.   I am pretty sure its not a math symbol.   The yang idea is sort of wierd, but I thought I would just mention it anyway.

Good luck to you!
