Found it thank you!
Is that catwalk picture the one in New Mexico by Glenwood?  One of my favorite places in the world. Absolutely beautiful place.

Go Up Go Down

I need to hit the area  south of Ft Bowie pretty soon.
I found a camping spot in New Mexico that was just awesome to camp in -called either Pueblo or Pioneer creek, pretty sure it was Pueblo. If you go, go in October when the creek is running. It was between Glenwood and Mogollon about 12 miles down a dirt road by some corrals. Mogollon is one spooky place, visited there right after the forest fire at snow lake. My father in law was born there, one of the old rusty cars on display, belonged to his father. He drove it down the side of the mountain drunk, left it there and everyone used it for target practice.
Everyone in the USA should visit The Catwalks at least once. Its even handicap accessible now, I recall when you had to walk the water pipe catwalk.

The last time I tried to make it into Mogollon, it was raining and my underpowered mustang was having trouble making it up the mountain road--so I chickened out as soon as I found a place where I could turn around ( a major feat in itself on that particular stretch of road).....but that was BW (before wife)

Lol the one lane road, I found a 6' orange ,horned rattlesnake on it. First rattler I ever let lived.
Theirs a fire base up there (cant recall the name going senile) heading toward snow lake, spotted a couple of dudes in full cammie gear up there with  Auto weapons trying to be secretive. Pretended I did not see them and got out of there. I know they were up to no good ( pot farmers was my guess). We turned around and I drove down that road in pitch black faster then I did going up. Actually the roads not to bad,  as long as no other cars are coming from the other direction.

That and the weather is good and your car has enough power to negotiate the grade.....But you're right, even though it's not much more (or wasn't much more) than 1 lane with no guard rails, I wouldn't hesitate to do it in either of the two vehicles we have now (even in the rain).   The car I had at the time, had the mustang name but none of the storied mustang power (and it was getting old to boot).
