First the Spanish word for silver is plata so if it was a Spanish sign it would be RP not RS. Plus it looks way to modern more 1900's
This is a prime example of people seeing something that mean nothing and trying to convenes the world they are on to something. My guess which is a lot more realistic is some bored cowboy curved his initials in the sand stone.

Famous science fiction author Robert Silverberg left his initials there. He's not just anybody. He's special.

My definitions book has your letters together in lower case but capitalized separately! I think it might means Reales Spanish or South down if you were to draw the n,s,e,w on the rock south would be down also I dont think anyone other than conquistadors would be likely to make such good detailed capital letters. I think they wanted people to think that it was just someones initals that may be why they added the S. Its worth mentioning the that the letters look like the ones in my treasure book symbols and deffinitions book! I think you may be onto something Haven let me know how it goes and what you find k.i.t "Spainard"

If you believe everything you read you are reading to much.

You need to throw that book away and try a little common sense and logic

Hi Haven,

Im a noob in the treasure signs department. But my understanding was the silver was melted into rough ingots. Then transported to Mexico to be stamped into coins, then transported to Spain. So like turtle signs, if I hear the word Reale, I generally ignore it.

They may have stamped the coins elsewhere. In my research, I have only found one place in the region they stamped the coins.

Your initials probably mean something different.
