I found this marking on my land and like to more about it.  the story that has been passed down through the family is that it is a spanish marking for gold.  If anyone has any info on it I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I have also found the roman num IX or XI depending on which side of the rock your facing. Does anyone know what this might mean as well? This is located about 20 yards south of the marking I posted above.

I would lean towards seldom's idea on the rock you have posted, however, there are a few ways to narrow down if this rock is a part of a treasure trail.
First of all, I would ask if this rock is moveable.  If you kick it (lightly), does it move?  If this rock is "permanent" then I would mark north on it, using a compass and magic marker, then carefully remove the rock and turn it over to see what signs may (or may not) be on the bottom of this rock.  Even though there may be no visible treasure signs, be sure to look closely at the natural lines and cracks (and so on) that exist on this bottom side naturally.
The same information goes for the "nine" or "eleven" rock.....mark north on it and this should allow you to to "nail down" the exact number.  The number "9" may represent the lett "I" which is a tunnel symbol.  The number "11" may represent the letter "K" which is there to give specific directions.
If.....and I reiterate IF....these rocks and symbols lead to an accumulation room, your next rock....your next marker...will be totally buried and out of site, out of view.  You will find it by using the information at your site.
There is more to this process if these are treasure symbols, and it is totally possible that these rocks are marking out property lines.

Its hard to reply when we have no clue to what state your in. I think I saw that your in Oklahoma if so you can see that there is little proof that the Spanish found any gold there.

Oklahoma abounds with treasure legends. They start with what possibly is the wildest wild-goose chase in recorded history when Spanish explorer Coronado searched for Quivira, or the Seven Cities of Cibola.

Coronado is believed to have crossed a portion of modern Oklahoma during the 16th century as his expedition wandered over more than three thousand miles of land previously unexplored by Europeans.

Coronado never found the seven cities where streets were supposedly paved with gold.

Other Spanish penetrated what is now Oklahoma by the 17th century and found the Wichita Mountains near modern Lawton.

Spanish miners apparently searched for gold and silver. There is no proof they found any in large quantities, but the Spanish gave rise to tales of lost Spanish mines and buried treasures.

Such legends also persist in and around the area of Quartz Mountain State Park near modern Altus in southwest Oklahoma, and in and around the Arbuckle Mountains in south central Oklahoma.

Looks like Rock Map.....for sure DO NOT MOVE IT!

Line up lines w/compass, take pics of it and draw it on paper with compass lines.

Have GPS?  Then take GPS reading of rock location.

Travel in line of lines from rock and look for other markers.
