Go Up Go Down

I found a tree that a carving cut deep into it.

It is a straight line about 3' long running up and down of course.  It has an V at the top of the line and an inverted V (if you will) and the bottom of the line.

Half way up the line is a line about 4" long that goes to the left and does connect with the straight line that runs up and down.  What does it mean?

Hello jdl580; How high up the tree is the marker. Ground level where walkers would see it or higher up where horse riders would see it? Post a picture of it and maybe someone will have a few ideas.

Welcome to the forum! If you had a picture of the marker we might for instance be able to determine its age. The older it is the better! In the meantime all the best, Christian

I tried to send a picture that I scanned.  It is a .tif file.  Do I need to change it somehow to some other file type?  If so, how do I do it?

The marker is ground level.  No boy scouts in this area of the country at all.

I want to send a pic but am having trouble.  I scanned a picture that I took some time ago from a 35mm camera.  It scans as a .tif file and it wouldn't load.  Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Thanks,

You can post pictures in the GIF and JPG file format. To change the file format use a program like Paint or Photoshop or any other kind of image processing software you may have on your computer. Or you can also e-mail the picture to me at webmaster@thunting.com and I will change it for you.
