Mate, there are no experts there on that forum link, just more guys who feed each other a line of nonsense. A picture of a mine is very nice but the Spanish did not leave road maps on rocks to find their hidden wealth, if they even hid any. The Spanish archivists laugh at these guys but if you want to spend your time racking up volumes of paper generated by navel gazing speculators, you just go right ahead and have a grand time doing so. Those of us who have actually found hidden treasure will tell you that it has never been at the end of a trail sign.

And there lies the real key to all this talk. There really are trail signs left all over the world, even here in Australia. Signs that point to edible groves of native plants, watering holes, other trails, other tribal sites, meeting places, burial ground and even to dangerous spots. Those are necessary for survival and very important signs. All of those so called treasure markers are just the vivid imagination of people blinded by gold fever working overtime to see treasure in a symbol that points to a stream. They are so blind that they travel right over the stream and never consider that they just found the stream, what the sign was actually pointing to.

This sign thing really cracks me up.

Why do you possibly think the Spaniards would spend that kinda time Carving Rocks?

For Art?

The conversation of the day amongst the troops was more like this!

Juan, You Hungry?

Yea George' I'm hungry.

If Capitano, don't find something soon, I'm going to eat his Fucting Burro!.

Yea Me too.

Did ya see that smoke on the hill back there?

Yea, Da Apache is going to skin us before sun rises for shore.

You still Hungry George?

Yea.

Is da Captain Asleep Yet?

Don't know Juan, But da burro is!

Da Capten Can Walk as good a us, Eaaa?

Yep!  Sure burro Steaks sounds fine ta me to.

You Tink da Fryer is going ta get Pissed off?

Na George, the burro has da Rum and stuff on it too.

He will carry the cask for sure.

These armchair treasure hunters with their heads in the clouds trying to prove a stack of rocks is a lion heads is nonsense. This bunch is doing more harm to the treasure community then the bunch leaving hole allover  the city parks.
You can hike allover the southwest and find 100's of abandon mines finding a pile of rocks a mile away don't make it a treasure sign it just makes it a pile of rocks.

Hey Homefire you have probably seen too many signs and starting to go a bit loco thas cool
Have you tried a stewed jack rabbit? Im sure it would taste ok if you were hungry  Cool The old
sign makers would have liked something like that. I don't believe all the photos in the link are
spanish markers 100% I'd say its near impossible to prove it so even if it were true.
I do find the subject of signs and markers very interesting and there were some amazing pics posted in the link provided. I'll have another look sometime as I only skimmed through last time   Cool
