Well we're itching to hear the story.  I bet you found them with the Micronta, didn't you!
Your inventory of MD's is amazing.  I hope to catch up some day.

Go Up Go Down

Well now i bought the MXT in mid june 2010, After a week or two of owning it i took it to a field that a friend invited me to detect on well i spent about 8hrs just finding junk, the field was hard so i took a prospecting pick with me, it took about 20 minates to dig a hole about 5" deep just to find it was a piece of WWII bomb.
I'd had enough after 8hrs so i went home wondering what i was doing wrong, anyway the next day i got a phone call from my mate and he said trust the machine and that i should go to these woods near by. After about a week i decided to go there, the first sweep of the coil within the first foot of the sweep i got a signal and it was ready 55 on the VDI, I dug down 4-5" and there was the big ring it was 9mm wide and the diamond was 4mm across as you can imagine what i was thinking, well i carried on sweeping the line i was on 4-5ft away i got another signal it 6-8 on the VDI, i thought steve is never gonna believe this i started to laugh and thought i need a drink so out came the coffee, After the coffee i put the headphones back on and i thought hang-on i missed a bit about 10" from where i found the first ring, so i swept the coil over the area again and i got another signal i dug down about 3-4" i found the watch chain T-bar, now this was a day that i would never forget. When i got home i did'nt say anything when i got in i just put the rings down next to my other half and walk in to the kitchen and made a coffee. That night i phoned my mate and told and he was shocked too, well i split the value of them with him because if he had'nt kept on at me i'd never have gone there and that mxt300 paid for it's self on the first find. so go luck all round rearly

Great story!  I bet there's still hundreds of years of history still waiting to be dug in your country.  Sir Galahad's sword maybe?   Smiley  The wwII stuff is interesting too.

Seldom and bitburgaggie helped me discover that I own a piece of British history on this thread:

Go Up Go Down

Yesterday i went out and found a gilt covered button from between 1875-1895 with a fox jumping through a hedge, and a copper finger ring with disc on it about 1-1/8" across with alog with an axe stuck in it and some old army buttons from 1871-1901 along with a 22 slug, a toy bulldozer along with 7 modern coils to add to the pot. also 1918 penny, On friday i found a 1921 .500 silver sixpence,a penny 1915 + a 1923 penny, I'm stuck for my roman sites because they are all under crops at the moment and a favorite place of mine now has signs saying NO METAL DETECTING, so it's time to dig deep and find some more new place's just in case, then i've always got somewhere else if needed.  John

Man, I envy the locations you get to dig.  Here in Texas, people lease the rights to hunt on farmers land.  I suppose we could do the same thing with M detecting.  If there was a rich site that was off limits and privately owned, a person or a club could lease exclusive rights to MD and pay the land owner.  Money changes minds.  Just something I've though about.

I've got some great place's up north about 200 miles away, 100s of acre's, at a ladies house i was working at i  detected in her garden and within 18" of the patio i found a very worn 1696  William III silver shilling, I'm pleased to have it even though it's worn. I also found a roman horse shoe in her garden now that was a surprize. I know jimmy sierra comes over here and brings a few folks with him, i could always find you somewhere to hunt if you'er ever over this way. J

Here's what I pulled out of my coin garden with the Gold Bug S.E. AFTER I had "cleaned" the garden out with my Micronta.  There is still more to dig, I ran out of day light.

Man, I went back out there today and I got tired of digging signals.  But the funny thing is, I can't find the dimes THAT I PLANTED.  I dug up more nails and tiny bits of metal, but no dimes.  I think the tooth fairy was desparate and stole them.
