From the land of the Bluenose.....with a heavy heart and a faint mist forming in the corner of my eyes I headed out for a dig. Not sure if the tears were for the Bardman in sadness or joy or if it had made me aware of just how fragile and fleeting life can be. Thought it appropriate to hit Goorsebrook as it was the first place that Bardman and I had ever dug together.<center>[img width= height=]http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc39b3127cce800c8cc3a8a900000016108AcM2bhk4ZN2[/img]</center>
The day was a tad on the dark side and I had trouble focusing as my mind was a cascading kaleidoscope of thoughts and images of my lost friend.
Headed to the end of one of the ballfields were there is a kloof that folks use for tobagganing in the winter and I began to dig trash and treasure targets immediately.<center>[img width= height=]http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc39b3127cce800c8cd3a8b900000016108AcM2bhk4ZN2[/img]</center> Mister man was the place infested with beer bottle caps. Think but not sure but I do believe that one of the highrises in back is a residence for St. Mary's University..............um that would explain that.
Half way to my quota I was dogged by a 12 year old out walking his dog Lulu. That is one ungodly handle to put on a k9. Anyway I explained to the kid that he shouldn't talk to strangers especially ones with a hunting knife in one hand and a detector in the other. He replied, "My name is Josh what is yours?" So I told him mine to which he retorted, "Now we know each other and you are not a stranger." In a perfect world that would work and I silently said a prayer for the bouy to keep him safe.
It was about the second target after this exchange that devine providence intervened and out popped Saint Joey <center>[img width= height=]http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc39b3127cce800c8cda298000000016108AcM2bhk4ZN2[/img]</center in all his silver glory. Had dug a similar religious medal a short time ago. Turning the medal over and with a little spittle and elbow grease I was able to make out the inscription on the back!<center>[img width= height=]http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc39b3127cce800c8cdfa8b500000016108AcM2bhk4ZN2[/img]</center> Fitting!
After my new found friends saw this pop out of the ground instead of a penny or bottle cap it took me a full half hour to detach the duo from my side.
With quota in pocket I wearily headed home. Take for the day was 50 coins @ $ 1.63, two dog tags,a key a pen and silver St. Joe.<center>[img width= height=]http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc39b3127cce800c8cde298400000016108AcM2bhk4ZN2[/img]</center>
Arriving home I gave Marie one big hug!
