Given the availability and advances intechnology if you had a budget of under $500, what would be your first, second, and third picks for a new or used detector?

I was actually wanting to get a pros perrspective on what they would purchase.  I already know the "beginer" perspective is and thanks on the search instructions.

mneccspv No one can recommend a detector without knowing what your main objective is and where you intend to hunt. If you just want a general use detector try a Garrett 350 or a Tesoro Cibola

Using the search function would show you how many times this question has been asked and in how many ways it can be answered. There are far too many variables to give you or anyone an answer to that.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Okay, let me try again then.

If you, as a pro, wanted to pick up another detector for yourself and only had $500 to spend, new or used what would your first three choices be.  You know what type of detecting you do and it is for you, not the beginer.  That help?

Very appreciative of the help you have given in understanding your thought process as a "pro" hunter and identifying the tools you would use.

You are very needy aren't you. You want someone to tell you what to buy where to dig how to sale it and probably fill out your IRS forms. You want to talk about the Pro's you know why we are pro's because we have been at this 40 plus years we learned the hard way by getting off our butts and doing not by setting on the net crying because know one would hold their hand. Its does not matter what we tell you what ever you buy you will not be happy because you did not find a gold ring or 50 bars of silver your first time out so you machine ends up in storage and we are to blame because we lead you wrong. All we can do is give you the tools to research your needs we have done that. That's all we can do, I suggest you look into stamp collecting

Apparently you guys are very defensive, it's a land mine of a question, or you all have had issues sharing your knowledge in the past.

No hidden agendas here.  I just asked for anyone that new there stuff to advise what they would buy if they were in the market to buy a new unit but had limited budget.  I do not understand why it has become such a complex issue to discuss without being ugly about it and I can make up my own mind.  IT would have been nice to heard you all share the knowledge so I dont waste my time or money like you have in the learnign process.

If you dont like my questions or the way I asked, you could have simply moved on.  There really is no excuse for being a butt head about it.

Happy hunting you super duper pro with all the answers.
