just took my battries out of my fisher 4 to put new ones in and it  will not turn on  any clues  please

First question.....are you sure you're using ALKALINE batteries only?   (dumb question, but since the user manual has that in LARGE letters, I figured I'd better ask)

That's true.....I've put pulled "new" batteries out of the packaging just to find out they had no charge.   I've started testing ALL my batteries before I use them.   The other thing you might try is to remove the batteries, check the charge (if you have a voltmeter), and then re-connect the batteries making sure they have a solid connection.

I always check my batteries with my multitester before i put em in, (testers cost less than 10 bucks anymore=good investment-sometimes even 4 bucks at harbour freight)
