I have seen farm tractors pulling a "Sifter" OR beach "comber" though the beaches of Fla.

This Contraption Has "Fingers" or Spines that go down in the sand maybe 3-4 inches and lifts

ANYTHING onto a screen..sifts the sand back onto the beach and of coarse keeps all the "Goodies" on the screen!!  The trash is collected as well and disposed of along the way!

Don't you dare try to "sneak a peek" of the contents on the screen..Oh no, its covered to
keep prying eyes away!!  Wonder why all the "secrecy"?

I wonder if this operation is "contracted" out..Run by the county or the city?? Anyone have a clue?  Wonder what the "take" is in a given day-Month-Year??  Can You imaguine??
Think of all the possibilities and the territory you could cover with this unit!

Yes, i think this is the best beach machine!!  Teach

The one that is used in Galveston is city owned and operated. There is a guy in Surfside Texas that build his on his own then sold the idea to the city under contract neither will talk about their finds.

I would love to get a look at what that one finds. Which beaches are they using it on?

actually, I seem to recall the subject was discussed within the last 12 months or so.....you might want to take a look at some of the previous posts  (the conclusion was they didn't usually pick up the kind of stuff we might be interested in, except for the occassional wallet)

For certain the ones here in Perth cannot possible trap a coin but they do pick up purses, soda cans, plastic bags, paper trash and the occasional large wallet or watch which gets hung on the tines. Other than that, it does a nice job loosening the sand up for us.

The ones in Galveston might just be to clean up trash and a wallet or two, the the one the guy has in Surfside was designed to recover small items. Next time I see the guy will ask some questions, and try to get a picture
