Go Up Go Down

Dont know if anyone else uses one of these for parks and stuff... I've been using this for the last week and love it. Just cut me a plug and dig.

{alt}

I carry this in a little plastic bucket with my screw driver and little garden shovel...

I hit a target... probe it. Cut a plug... all the dirt goes in the bucket. I scan the bucket.... find my item. Then I just replace the dirt and push the plug back in flush. Nice and clean.

Some people were saying that cutting plugs would cause dead spots in the grass. I have never cut plugs, so I don't know. That is the only thing keeping me from cutting away. Is it true or is it just because they aren't doing it correctly?

Cheers

Sean

A full plug as opposed to a hinged plug (part of the grass still attached to the surrounding grass) is more likely to leave a dead spot---especially in areas that are naturally tough on ground cover growth (read most parts of Texas outside the coastal area, the American Southwest, etc, etc, etc).   In addition an unattached plug is more likely to get sucked up by a riding lawnmower if it comes by shortly after you have hunted.....leaving a bare spot for all to see (sort of like the top of my head).

yup,a pull thats completely pulled up will leave a dead spot,i've tried to bring a water bottle to soak the area,it helps but not that much,best bet is the 3-sided hinge Great
