Out of curiosity, has anyone used any of the following detectors?

Mikron Pulse Master
Mikron Stinger 2
IGK Electronics PI807
IGK Electronics PI907 Hunter

They are all made in Bulgaria and seem to be rather affordable in comparison to the more "well-known" brands. I would appreciate any user experiences and comments on those machines. Thanks!

I am looking at these again, they do look good. Wish they weren't so far, though they do have a strange listing for a dealer in the states that sells the stinger2 for 1300 or so. I was looking at some greek forums, but the translation is TERRIBLE. But what I can figure some say they are good. Wish people here had some experience with them. 400 euro get you 3 meters deep on the proton. PI.

No joejoe, never used a Mikron before, but I have had some hands-on with Deeptech Megapulse (old unit) and SDP 2014. They belonged to 2 ppl who asked for help after they dug a few fruitless and very deep holes and got sick of finding junk/natural metal. That brand ran stable on brackish and salty soils. From what I've read, it seems a fair amount of Bulgarian detectors are based on the DIY versions of the Delta Pulse and XR71 Sniffer.

Ok, thanks. I hear the pulse master pro gave some falsies in heavy mineralization and the fellow went to the sniffer. I was recommended the VEGA by rex by them (mikron, think they are the same company), the youtube videos weren't too bad. Nor the price.
If they dug deep holes must mean they work.
Does the megapulse or the sdp 2014 handle basalt well?

The time with the megapulse on basalt was short. No targets detected. In an effort to convince those chaps that there was nothing there, I asked one of them to bury his seiko 5 watch in the thin soil (less than 2 foot depth before hitting basalt) and it was detected easily.

Joejoe, I have no idea what kind of target you think is hidden in natural basalt, and I only have a rough idea of how bad your soil conditions are. All I can say is if the target is worth it, bite the bullet and go with a decent "name brand" PI unit. I can't really say how effective the cheaper units will be in your area, though I do admit the lower prices of Bulgarian detectors or DIY kits are most tempting.

The basalt is in large boulder form, scattered about.  My idea is to get one of the bulgarian units for around a mil euros or a used tdi with a large coil. The used tdi would probably come out more cost effective though I wouldn't want to cut corners and lose. I was thinking 1x1 but others are saying that a 24x24 would be sufficient. I'm looking within three feet or so, so nowhere near the twelve feet that they list.

Hi joejoe

I build the DBP2010 with some mods to accommodate a 280 mm coil instead of a 1m x 1m coil I can detect a large object at over 1m in air test. Hope this helps

Xavier
