It was already down a path that was off topic when the fellow took Xavier's comments the wrong way, I was continuing the topic change by showing him that it's not to hard to say Hi to Homefire, or to the rest of us for that matter.

First Xman was making a point as a moderator Homes was agreeing with him trying to show the guy its a good ideal to introduce your self. You on the other hand was just posting to post to drag one more thread off topic.

Go Up Go Down

One summer in AK, between fishing trips, I did some Hi Banking and sluicing for gold.
There is a small sized sample bottle that holds 1 Oz of gold.
I only had a few small nuggets in my first bottle. The rest was flakes. (I've known people that moved from a 'flake' site because they were looking for nuggets.)
When Gold on the market was $200 Oz, a jeweler gave me nearly $400 for my sample bottle.
Danged if I didn't have to buy another sample bottle as he kept mine.

I got more later on, and sold it to the same guy. He made Gold covered Jewelry for Tourists and made more money that he paid me. Capitalist! Angry
Tuesday I was watching FOX when the said gold was $1900+. That brought me back to my prospecting days. Doggoned if I couldn't have bought a new Detector with that first sample bottle eh? Grin
Right now, if I lived near a place that might have gold, I'd go after it earnestly. Wink

Hi Thudpucker

Welcome back. How is your health? I bought a gold coin some 35 years ago, I sold it a year after I bought it but had I kept it till today I would have made a huge profit on it. The question is when do you sell? I mean if you keep it are you going to profit from it in the end? or is it someone else that will profit from it? To put it to you this way if I bought gold today it would be to put in a safe and leave it there for my will but if I found gold I would sell it in order to be able to continue to enjoy my hobby and upgrade my equipment and OK if I found enough of it, it would also go in the safe. I think that deciding to sell is such a personal decision really aint it?

All the best
Xavier

Gold is money in the bank. Today, it really can't be spent directly like it could 150 years ago so when you need cash, you sell it. Otherwise, I suggest you keep it at least until November. If the government changes hands in the election, it may drop in a few years.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You cannot destroy Gold. It's been found in a mess in the leavings of a Housfire. Melted down to small pieces as the 'liquid' flowed through the boards n' stuff.
