Since you are talking about coils that already exist, the answer is simple. Only buy coils that are made for your specific model and brand name. There are aftermarket companies that make coils so you can be sure to get the right one.
The differences can be as minor as the coil configuration inside of the plastic housing or as complex as inductance, reactance and other electrical factors. There's no easy way to make a coil from one brand work on another brand.
