Affect the performance of the detector ,,I have noticed i have banged it up pretty good by using it in the water and can see  the wire on the  in side,,,So what do you think should i repair the coil or buy a new one,,

Hi Outback,
Unless water has actually got in there, it might be o.k.
I'd repair the area with maybe some glassfibre tape and resin.
If it's in an area where a "scuff cover" would actually cover the crack it might be an idea to get hold of one and use epoxy to hold it (permanantly) in place.
I had the same thing with a coil a while back (it got run over by a car - don't ask!).
Stuck a scuff cover on there, never had a problem with it!

Oh.....

Even so, if it wasn't seawater or saltwater, as long as it's dried out now things should be o.k!
If you are looking for a replacement coil (I take it that it's for your Garrett 250?) some guys over here use the Detech SEF coil.
By all accounts it's a fantastic coil, expensive, but cheaper than a new detector!
