I am wanting opinions on a good coin and jewelry metal detector for my wife. I have a Fisher CZ70 pro and it does great on coins but my wife wants to search mostly for jewelry. Mine will find jewelry but you got to dig all foil and pulltabs and I haven't found jewelry yet. Any advise?

Any machine running around 15 Khz is hotter on the stuff.

You still have to dig the tabs and foil if you want to find the goodies.

I had a choice between a Fisher ID excel and a Teknetics Delta 4000 as this is all my budget would allow. They were 150 each. I chose the Teknetics but I havent bought it yet. I hope I made a good decision

We'll be looking forward to getting a report from you.   So far I've been hearing good things about the Delta (good enough that it is on the short list for a relative of mine who will NOT let me forget it if I recommend a piece of junk  Wink )

Thanks again for the input. I will let you know how it goes withe the Delta 4000. My wife is very excited about it.
My wife got her Delta 4000 today and she loves it. It is very very simple almost too simple to operate. She found a clad dime within the first 5 seconds after setting her controls. Granted it was only 2 inches deep but it excited her. We were just out in the front yard which by the way is full of coins and were only out there 15 mins and she found 8 coins. None of them were deep however. She did lock onto a target at 5 inches but we didn't dig it. She seems to be happy and thats all i care about. I will let you know more about the depth issues when we do some actual detecting. The one thing I am concerned with is its got a fixed ground balance. I am a strong believer in manual but we will see how it goes. To be continued.........

Glad the first impressions are good......as far as "It is very very simple almost too simple to operate" ...that can be a mark of a truly great machine (i.e. anyone can pick it up and start using it with good results, but those who take the time to really learn it wind up with superior results)....only time will tell.   Thanks for giving us the first impressions report.

The Delta 400 is a great machine, sadly underrated. Congrats!
