THU is a good resource for the death traps.  He has put a lot of time into researching these things as well as other various signs and symbols.

I don't buy this "death trap" hoopla. Anyone with common sense should be able to see a potential hazard before they even dig.

I read an article a few years ago about a treasure finder being sickened. The box that had been hidden was covered in pitch laced with poison.
Note to self; wash container and treasure before handling.

As for elaborate traps, it's hard just to dig a hole let alone doing all that. I think most major treasures were secured by a company of men, making it almost impossible for just a few to undo the work. Example, divert stream, bury hoard in deep pit in the stream bed using rigging, open stream back up.
