first of all what type of metal detector do you have, and have you read your manual to see if it lets you know.

The Vaquero found a ten dollar new gold piece in a 14 K coin bedzel, at about ten inches (air distance). The chain was spotted a few feet away.I run just above iron in discrimination and crank threshold to the maximum with sensitivity just a hair below chatter..Sold the broken  wife claimed the necklace center coin..Considering I paid $225 US, for the Vaquero with a stock and cleansweep coil.it was a fair return on my money.Late Sept, weather is shutting us down, weather and jobs, Rain cold and I've a 55 inch ,in the round, Santa figure to deliver on the 29th..Cheers, sorry to be away ,but for some reason this site kicks my computer all over the place..Cordially Nad     Detecting

Go Up Go Down

Hi, all

I know this has been here a while but, going for a giggle and a snort.   The second time or so I took my XLT to the park I lost my dime on a stick down in the clay, for thirty minutes I tried fiddling with the settings to see it, no dice.  A gentleman walked up and introduced himself and we started jawing about metal detectors.  Asked him to take mine for a spin and tell me if he thinks it was working correctly.  Phil said it seems to be, although its a lot different than his.  He correctly  id'd a penny, then some foil to my amazement. He then asked about my discrimination, told him i had pop tabs discriminated out.  He took a 10k gold men's wedding band off his key-chain and threw it down.  It read 30.5 on my XLT  just like a pop tab.  Ive yet to discriminate anything on the plus side since.
