Im asking cause I don't know.

On the Pin-Point as opposed to the big Ring detector?

Which one will work in a creek bed?
How deep can you go in the water?
How about around the lake shore, can you sink the coil down to the Sand and still expect it to work?

All detectors that work on land will work in a creek bed.
Your detector will not go under water unless it is made for diving. As to how deep you can detect with a land type machine, just keep your electronics dry for the most part. Unless there is a manufacturing defect, most (but not all) coils are waterproof.
Some detectors perform differently in water but they are in the minority. Generally speaking, water doesn't affect the detection of metals in a negative way. In most cases, you can get slightly better depty.

A tip for you. Get into the habit while on land for a few weeks before you go by leaning the detector against your shoulder when you dig. Laying it on the dirt or grass while you dig on land may be all right but if you forget you are in water, your detector is going to need repair. So start now leaning it against your shoulder while you dig. I use a carabiner clip on a neck lanyard which clips to a ring on my control box for my old GroundHog when I take it to the lake. Even when I use a long handled scoop. You never know when our focus may be shifted away and you forget you have that box in your non-dominant hand.

Do you really think that the cautionary note I offered came from wisdom? Nope. Experience. Fortunately, it was a fresh water "laying down" that I did. Flushed with distilled water, then with 90% denatured alcohol and dried with a heat gun. After disassembly, naturally. When reassembled, it worked fine.

LOL,   I have broke Ribs, Ankle, Clavicle got ripped out by it's roots,  Fingers and Toes.    That was just in life.

None was Metal Detecting .

I aways chucked the Detector and Saved my Skin.

Cost me two this far.  Not Bad.

Both were of the Old Variety that I could mend up.

Both in Fresh Water.

Did I ever tell you about the time I fell into the Bear's den....?

When I was working I had money for stuff like a good Detector. But after I retired, the Doctors got all my money. I have a pilot's license and can't afford to fly, while the Doctors have all bought planes with my Retirement fund.
It's so unfair! Angry
