So, have you unwrapped all your presents and find a new (or upgrade) MD this year? What did you get?

How's it working so far?

I need another metal detector like I need an armadillo. But the gift of one would please me. My inventory of machines grows by itself because whenever I want one, I buy it. That frustrates my wife but she does the same thing. Anything she wants, she gets it for herself. We both make gift giving very hard for each other. And we love it that way.

Congrats Armorer on the find! Be sure to post that in the 'Today's Finds' thread with a picture if you still have it! We'd love to see it.

I sold off my old bounty hunter and last week I bought the garrett GT PRO and ILOVE it I have found more with this detector than the BH ever found and it was in my back yard I havent even been out in the real world with it yet. to give you an idea a 45 long colt casing next to my swimming pool which is and in ground pool it was deep in the ground but I kept digging and a round ball from a pistol that is still inbedded in the clay plus a large ring from a tie off post for horses and I dont know how many old pennies I cant wait to get out around the creek beds and swimming holes at the lakes. I havent taken any pics yet but I will it get them posted

Yes, I treated myself to a Excalibur II minelab. I am going to the beach tomorrow to give it a try, I will bring my e-trac also but I am confident that there will some goodie at low tides. Anyone have any tips for the Excalibur?

I'll give you the universal tip. Keep it slow. No matter how sexy and hot you think your detector is, speeding up to cover more ground will cost you the deep, potentially more valuable targets.

It also helps you find the soda or beer can that some buffoon buried. But that's the price of finding the gold ring he dropped next to it when he buried it.
