Do people typically stay with one brand of detectors?

I think that many people like to try out as many models as they can so they can figure out which one they prefer.

Hi,
I started with a Bounty Hunter 505, I liked it alot. Then I bought a Minelab X-Terra 50, I LOVE it.
Then I bought a Garret Ace-250, I love it too. I use all of them.
All in all the MInelab is my favorite, but the other 2 come in handy too.
Oh, Yeah, I bought a Viper Trident for underwater but don't really care for it so much.
If I could afford it (And my wife wouldn't beat me to death with my Minelab), I would buy one of everything just to see how they work. I know guys who swear by Whites, Minelab, Garret, etc..
And they find really great stuff with all of them. But I think if you take the time to learn a detector, you can find stuff with any of them (Except the Viper Trident Smiley............)

just my 1/2 cents worth.

Clint

I don't

Had more than 30 different models over the years.

Being a beach hunter, I favour TR models for dry sand, and FBS models for the wet.

But I had C scopes, Spectrums XLT, PI detectors, Fishers, Bounty hunters, Garrett, and so on...

The motion detector than can beat a 100 Khz TR machine on very thin gold jewelry must still be invented.

But motion detectors are great discriminators, so, there are many reasons to own more than one brand/model of metal detectors.

great post mate, after nearly 30 years of digging , if my life depended on it i would grab my compass 77b. but i have used most makes, and had good results. i actually think most modern detectors are over rated, and even with the turn on and go machines, the skill of the user is a bigger factor than what detector you use
