Go Up Go Down

Well, I finally got my Ace 250 in the mail on Friday, so, I called up my friend String Frenzy (Thank goodness he lives a few miles away, and is responsible for me getting back into detecting) to see if  he wanted to go out.  We went to one of our local parks in the pouring down rain to see what we could find.  Didn't find much, I found a 1996 penny and more pop tabs than I could shake a stick at, but boy was the experience worth it!  I'm getting familiar with my 250, plus, String was and has been a wealth of knowledge!  Thanks String!!  I'll keep everyone updated of anything I find, since I'm definately glad I got back into it!!

Due to the weather that day we were not able to hunt for long.  Along with the 96 penny and pulltabs that bucksguy81 had found I had came out with a few pulltabs, and knob of some sort that I haven't cleaned up yet to id and an 86 dime.  Not too bad for a quick hunt.  Better luck for both of us next time I'm sure.

There's always another day and there is never a bad day detecting.

Hi and Welcome to the forum since I didn't greet you earlier. Getting out with your new detector and a friend is a good day even if the weather didn't cooperate. Even pulltabs give you practice with the detector. I'm sure you'll be posting good finds soon. Sue

Thanks Doc.  I was more than happy to help out.  He is catching on very quick and learning the the ACE 250 very fast.  I expect that in no time at all he will be raking in the finds just like the rest of us.

He is coming along very well.  We were out sunday for a few hours and he was starting to make more finds.  It was quite a good time when we were out sunday and I believe he was going to make a post about the hunt.  If not I'll try to get back and post about it.

Ok, since it's been like, two weeks or better since String and I went out on the Sunday, I thought, "Maybe I'd better FINALLY post what I found!"  Like String said, it was definately a good day!  The ground was quite wet, but the sun was a shining!!  I'm not sure what all String found, but, I ended up finding 2 Quarters, 4 dimes and 8 pennies, for a grand total of $0.98.  Of course, I found my fair share of the infamous pull tabs!  The most interesting find of the day for me was a 1996 penny.  What made it interesting was the cut out in the middle of the penny was in the shape of a cross.  I'm guessing either someone put it into a machine somewhere that cuts the penny out or something along those lines!  It would be really nice if this darned Ohio weather would cooperate and allow String and I to get out.  Of course, me not working so much would help out immensely too!!!   All in all, it was a great day and quite successful!  got plenty of exercise and had a good time with String, as I always do!  We need to get out again!  That's all for now!

I had found 10 Quarters, 4 Dimes, and 15 Pennies that day for a total of $3.05.  Bucksguy81 certainly had the most interesting find of the day hands down with his "cross penny" though.  It was a great day to hunt that day and I had a blast even if I hadn't found the items I had.  It would've been a great time even without the finds.

There's never a bad day out detecting.

Go Up Go Down

Well, I went out this morning after work for about an hour in my front yard and in the driveway...for an hour's hunt, I found $0.34.  1 quarter and 9 pennies.  The oldest thing I found was a 1962 penny.  Not bad I guess for the little bit of time I was out!
