Hi Folks,

I got ta get my boy a car, so I am trying
to get some cash togather.

That means it is time to sell my gold. I
gathered all of it I could stand to part
with right now.

Almost all of this is metal detector finds.

{alt}

It is about 4.3 troy oz of mostly 14k. It
should yeld close to 2.5 troy oz of pure
gold.

That is about $2,500, less 6%.

I should get close to $2,350.

Thanks fer lookin,

Tabdog

Thats a nice collection.

Gold hit over $1000 today, so it is a good time to sell.

How long did it take you to find this amount?

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Tabdog Thats a nice pile-too bad we do not have a crystal ball to see where prices are going before selling
But cash in the hand is better than a bird
Just like me and steel prices

Hay Mike,

I have a poor memory. I can not remember when I started.

But, I do have another set of numbers that may work even
better.

Two years ago I started finding gold jewelry.

At one point, I sold 90 grams. I got $1,290. But I do not
remember when.

This time I have 136 grams. That is just scrap that I will
part with. So there is more. I do not know how much.

So, in the last two years,

I have found 225 grams of scrap gold. Mostly 14k.

That is about 7.2 troy ounces of mostly 14k.

That is over 4 troy ounces of pure gold.

My take for that should be about $3,600 for two years
of scrap gold.

I bet I have found close to $1,000 in coins.

I have spent about $2,000 on metal detectors, coils, pin
pointer and headphones. I kept a record of that.

Also it is a healthy activity.

It is not making a living by any means. It is just a cheep,
wonderful hobby.

Not too bad hugh?

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

I read between the lines, Tabdog..... you said "scrap gold that you are willing to part with". You still have the 'good stuff' and you're still operating in the positive spectrum. Sounds to me like it's better than a great hobby!!!! It's the next step to Heaven Grin.

Best luck always, Tabdog. HH,
kd

Hay KD,

I keep thinking it is going to slow down.

I have had easy pickings for a while. It
is getting to where I have to drive too
far to find a hot spot.

I drove close to 50 miles this morning
to a fresh water swim beach. I did not
know it, bit it has been hunted real well
with a high end machine, or someone
who knows their machine well.(or both)

They could tell pull tabs. I had pull tabs
out the yen-yang, but only about 5 or 6
coins, and a few peices of cheep jewelry.

There was lots of aluminum foil.

These guys even got the bobby pins out.
I only found peices of bobby pins. Not a
single whole bobby pin. If you do not get
bobby pins, you may miss a chain.

I kept hopping for a gold chain or ear ring
they missed, but never found one.

I only got knee deep in the water.

Those folks are pretty good.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Tabdog, of all the junk items you mentioned, I hate the aluminum foil the most. On my Garrett many times, the foil gives me almost the same reading as gold and it just breaks my heart when I get excited and then dig into a piece of that crap.   Undecided  Cigarette pack foil gives almost the same reading.

Cigarette pack foil gives almost the same reading.

Some time ago on a lovely stretch of beach here in Australia, I was hunting on a Tuesday morning after a long weekend. The weather had turned really nasty in spite of it being summer so I had the beach to myself. Bottle tops, foil wrappers from food, pull tabs and all manner of junk found themselves in the scrap half of my finds pouch. There were enough coins and pieces of jewelry to keep me interested so I didn't mind. I love the solitude of an early morning beach hunt.

I found two really interesting things that day. One was a mobile phone - still on - with a dozen text messages and at least as many missed calls. I rang the number listed as "Mum" and found the owner's mother. Later in the day, she recovered her daughter's lost phone from me.

The second item was a pack of cigarettes that sounded like they always do - HUGE! It was sort of heavy so I looked inside. A always do that but this time I was intrigued by the heft and the fact that it was still lined with a few smokes. Hey, looky there! A fine old Zippo lighter! Wait!! What's that down a bit further? Ah! It's 4 $50.00 notes folded up and stuffed deep in the pack! The lighter even worked so I gave it to a friend who collects them. He forced yet another $50.00 note on me claiming it was a really rare Zippo from WWII. Who knew?

My daily take from that beach has not yet been exceeded since that find. One day, I'll find a piece of jewelry there that tops that $250.00+ amount but I never regret finding a cigarette pack - never really have. I dive into them looking for someone's beach stash! I also get that warm feeling of helping to keep the beach clean while profiting a tiny bit from the slobs of the world.
