I'm looking for information on the above model metal detector. Has anyone heard of it and do you have any comments on it?

Thanks,
Nancy

Hello , I am very familiar with the GC-1030  Metal Detector that is made in China !! The GC stands for Gold Century . If you are able buy one of these detectors at a cheap price , then they are a great value !! Let me get you all the Technical specs and find out what a reasonable Selling Price should be !! They also make 4 or 5 other models ............I will post some more , later tonight.............. Wise Wise...........Eugene

I'm pretty sure the MD3030 is the machine I bought on ebay a couple of years back at least. I was surprised at how many features you could get on a Chinese machine for under $200. The only thing I did not like about it was that it would not beep at the center of the coil hole but at the edge of the hole. You had to swing over the target the full width of the coil hole just to repeat the beep and then try and eyeball where the beep was on the ground. Also, up here in Canada it had a hard time with the ID on our coins, but with USA coins it was bang on every single time. I never used it once in the field but resold it on ebay to a USA buyer who I'm sure was happy with it.

GC-1030 has a VLF  operating frequency around  6.5 to 6.7 khz . 4 operating modes . The maximum detecting depth with discrimination is 24 cm or 9.5 inches with a big Coin . $129.00 u.s. dollars would be a great price , But who backs a Chinese Warranty Huh?Huh?? I would Recommend against you buying one at this Time , unless you get one "Dirt Cheap" !!!!!!!  Here is the brochure and a Photo of the detector !! . The Chinese Detectors are getting better , and may someday "OUT-SELL" the competition at a Much Better Price !!!!!!!!.. Shocked Clapp Clapp Clapp............Eugene

Hello Nancy,

I can only recommend nit to buy it. While it may sound good on the paper it performs very very poor out in the field. You won't have much joy using it. It's very poorly made at a production cost of abot 15 - 20 USD.

Best wishes,

Christian

I realie this post is old but I have to state the facts. I own one of these detectors and have done since Feb 2010. They are brilliantly cheap compared to high end detectors and yet they find coins as deep as 9 inches, a silver earing (tiny) at 5 inches (thse are actual recorded finds by myself).

The proof is in the pudding...look at my youtube site for video after video of me detecting and digging good and old stuff with this 3030 (also known as GC1010)

I ALSO want to point out that as at today whilst writing this, I would have scanned and dug approx 550 coins, numerous interesting artefacts, a few silver jewelley bits n bobs and to date $123.3 in New Zealand spending money. I have a box of pulltabs and rubbish which may contain over 2000 bits & pieces, and the only damage is when I knelt on the handle and have had to use a wee bit of tape to secure it. They do feel cheap...you know why??? Because they are really cheap!

All people who are naysayers obviously just couldn't figure the settings out. Simple.
