Going to check out an Island 350 kms from me this weekend....held lots of British Troops in 1760....I don't know if those Troops at this time had numbered buttons..I know they had by the Rev war...hope I find out.

Ernied.. I hunted that Island 20 years ago...found cannon balls, musket balls..and some other bits.
Hit it last Spring and found 8 buttons, musket balls ect..my friends found stuff there also.

Thats not where I hunted...I will tell all later..but my friends made some good finds...too bad I broke the shaft off my machine Sunday mornng..I made a couple of good finds...but my friend made some great finds...we are waiting to have a coin checked out...it may be the only known one to exsist..he found that out when he looked into a Canadian Coin catalouge!!!!

The coin sounds very interesting Dean.  Be sure and keep us posted on it.

Sorry to hear about the accident with the shaft that's a bummer. Angry

Sounds like it was still a pretty good time though.

iam glad you found some good stuff.when i hunted it we used some of the first vlf trs that came out.it was very hard to dig.i found an old english bayonet and round musket balls.i wish i was a little wiser then as i sold them all.i worked at the stlawrence state hospital for over thirty years and had permission to hunt the grounds i found a lot of old military buttons around the old ball field and a lot of silver coins now it is off limits i wish i could work it a gain with my newer machine.best of luck on your new hunt.
