Ok I am new too this hobby and my son wants join in I don't know what other machine I should buy. I have an ace 250 and I have found a few other Garret's on eBay ie Gta 1000,treasure hunter 300 I think it was. I also saw some bounty hunters? I'm at a loss I also wonders about the Tesoro machine. I just want something decent so he dose t get discouraged and something that I can help him use with my limited experience. If you have any advice or a machine you would like to sell that would fit the bill let me know.

I see you are still in the running on e-bay. Good Luck! While you are there search VINTAGE-PAIR-OF-METAL-DETECTORS there are 2 vintage machines including a BFO. For not much more investment, you can have the kiddo run the Ace while you try out these (much heavier) antiques. I use a 1980s vintage Garrett VLF that is everything my Ace 250 is and then some!

You really cant go wrong with the Tesoro Compadre! Good depth, VERY sensitive and very lightweight. Its good on very small gold also. Check some reviews.
