Go Up Go Down

Hi Homefire:

Well, We have been to Florida and saw lots of Spanish coins.......................behind glass.
HIgh winds coming onto shore really cut down the amount of exposed sand at low tide.
Not that it made a lot of difference.
We were at Palm Cove, Flagler Beach and Hammock Beach to name a few places.
Think they rake the beaches at night.  I didn't have to use discrimination, at all.
I was lucky if my machine sounded off.  I threw a coin under the machine just to check if it was still working

Most of my finds, about 50 coins were found in the parking area.
How degrading.
I did get to learn more about my Garrett and we went to Kellyco.

I have owned pin pointers but the new one is so much more than any I've used before
I bought a Garrett PRo pin pointer for $120.00.
Best $120.00 I ever spent.
I love that thing.
I found more stuff so much faster than I ever have.
THere were metal  items so encrusted in sea stuff that It looked like a shell  or stone.
THe pointer started to vibrate as I passed it over the sand pile

Holding it down in a hole it's difficult to see any lights so the vibration is very effective.
It goes off as you slide it into  the hole if the coin is in the side and gets more excited as you approach the item. If the target is in the bottom it stays silent till the tip hits the bottom
Sorry you don't get 1/3 of the Spanish stuff.
It ain't mine to share.
THe museums and displays own them

Go Up Go Down

Been detecting for a couple weeks now, and I recently bought the Garrett propointer,
This little gadget sped up my recovery by 3x!  I  Kiss this thing!!!

It has a couple nifty tricks up its sleeve too!

EXAMPLES

SUPER TUNING!

Turn device on, and scan the ground before you dig. If it beeps, your lookin at an item 1-2.5 inches down.
if it doesnt beep, take your digging tool, slide it up from the back of the device, alongside it, till it does the solid tone, slide it back down, till it doesnt recognize your digging tool, and hold it there. Point it at the ground, you just gained 2-3" of depth.

DE-tuning!
If you dug a hole, and the moment you probe the hole, it beeps, but you cannot find where exactly the item is in the hole... insert into hole, it'll beep, turn pointer off WHILE In the hole, and turn back on. You just DECREASED the sensitivity, and you should be able to get very close to the item.

Grin I love this propointer! Kiss

Everything at Harbor freight comes from China which I refuse to give a penny to buying anything made in China, however if you do get one and save your receipt you can keep returning the broken one for life. If you know your machine well enough you dont need a pinpointer to know where to dig. Save your money listen to your machine and what its telling you.

Thanks for the advice but it came way too late.
I bought the Garrett , while I was at Kellyco and LOVE it.
I dug so many items that looked like rocks when they were melted globs of aluminum.
I could have poked around for a long time before I found them but the pin pointer got them right away.
Another consideration:
I have a new Garrett Pro detector and it has a double "D" coil.
That takes some getting used to for pin pointing.
Years ago I bought a "Compass  pin pointer".
It was OK but nothing like the new Garrett.
Try it.
You might be amazed.

I must say that I'm quite good at pin-pointing with the detector but I still love the pin-pointer as it really does make life so much easier.

All the best
Xavier
