Hey Goldenboy-Did you happen to notice the place of origin?- Also the min. order is 10. I would really investigate prior to spending any money.

FOS, I have purchased many items from Alibaba without a problem. They screen their vendors and primarily deal with sellers from China, Asia and Africa. Most recently, I was involved in the purchase of 5,000 electronic door locks which arrived 6 months ago right on schedule.

All that being said, I'm pretty sure you can find a better price on those anyway.

It's been my experience that Alibaba is very legit. The price seems so low though! Not that I have that kind of dough just sitting around weighting to be spent! Grin

The Alibaba site is tied to China and I think may do some scams but I can not say about this.

I avoid Alibaba because you just go around in circles, on that site or get shunted off to a Chinese site.

Do what you think is safe.

Goldigger, the Alibaba site is not so complicated when you sign up and become a member. You have to provide details of your business but nothing dangerous. From the login page, you can ask for samples and so forth from each other. I've had a buyer ask me for a sample and then purchase a large quantity of something I stocked. I have also bought some really nice items from overseas sellers as samples and in quantity. There's another site that sells direct from the manufacturers. Once again, you have to become a member and may have to provide business details. Only fair since they do the same on their end.

Indeed. Both places are reputable agents for buyers and sellers of importing goods. Just be aware that not all companies offer samples.

You know.....That gives me an idea! When you search Alibaba for metal detectors, you get about gazillion results. Has anybody bothered to test any of them? I bet that some of these could be quite good but maybe much less expensive then our local offerings! Are we missing something? Looks like a worthwhile project! Maybe even an opportunity to make a few bucks....? Idea
