My latest podcast looks at headphones. I list three good reasons to use headphones, and I give you some brand-name recommendations.

I also discuss the pros and cons of expensive headphones. You can spend over a hundred dollars on a set of headphones - almost as much as the price of a good entry-level detector. Are they worth it?

Another great podcast on an important topic.   I especially liked the links and the comments (2 posted at the time I listened).  Hope to hear more on this subject in the future, especially what you would look for in a pair of headphones and why (we know you prefer coiled cords because the cord is less likely to get in the way, and the volume control is a good idea especially if your machine doesn't have volume control, but what other factors are really important when deciding between brands/models).

Assuming that when you hit a certain price level the headphones are going to do the job for you, the most important consideration is comfort.  Even the best headphones are worthless if they hurt your head.

And unfortunately, the only way to know is to try them on.  And like shoes, you may have to wear them for a few hours before you know if they are a perfect fit or not.

There's just no way to do that by mail order!  And to complicate things, I've found that there are even differences in two sets of the same model sometimes!  ARG!
