Go Up Go Down

I have always had the fascination of knowing the most and least of everything. Idea
Well today is no differant.I did some research on this subject and I'm just not running into much that would answer my question.
Old school or new tech,whatever.

What is the " highest frequency kHz" and the " lowest frequency kHz" ever used in making a metal detector ?

If anyone has a link or can point me in the right direction to answer this question this would be great too.....  Great

If you count PI detectors, you will find quite a spread.

PI are not so much measured in Frequency but Pulse Per Second and can be as low a a few a second. LOL!

To the Best of my Memory, VLF detectors can be had any place between 5.5 KHz to 300 and some KHz.

You can find a pile more info in the Tech Talk Board.

 Cool

So am I to understand the VLF machines does not go any lower then 5.5 kHz?
Or any higher then 300 kHz?

Thanks for the reply and info Homes

Didn't say that.

That is the limits that I have seen.

On another forums someone is trying to use 2 or 3 KHz.

There are legal limits, Practical limits and Useful Limits.

So sorry Homes didn't mean to put words in your mouth.I understand that you was thinking off the top of your head and this is as low as you seen yourself. Thanks for the info and the link.I'm off to there now to check into this.

I believe I get it now thanks to the chart.
So then detectors are confined to the radio spectrum 3-300 kHz.So if I'm right there then were pretty much as low in frequency as we can get being practical and legal.

The frequency range of current VLF metal detectors on the market today typically start at 2.4 khz and go up to 100 khz .

There were a few old vintage VLF Metal Detectors that dipped below 2.4 khz . And the ones in the high end VLF range are the older BFO type and of course Minelab BBS Technology @ 1.5 to 100 khz .

Regards...........Eugene

The little Falcon Detector runs up in the 300KHz range and is in the Radio Spectrum.

Technically VLF is below that Freq.

My MXTs run at around 15khz which is good for gold and other small items and it will pick up the minerals/ electricity
in you hand at a couple of inches and my GMT runs at 48khz and it will find gold that small that you have to pan it
to separate it as in the size of a pin prick.
