Here is my ad I run periodically on Craigs List.  I am not getting rich, but I make a few hundred dollars a year and it opens up doors to new detecting sites:

LOST RING???[Subject Line]

Hmmm too many sharks around unless you get the person to describe what they lost and to get then to draw a picture of it before you even consider taking it on reason being they would claim anything you found as theirs. You have to protect yourself I used to charge $25 per hour just for the search and they had to put in near where they were when they lost it.
Then I want 5% of the value of the object which when you think of it isnt much. I was successful in most cases except where I think someone was trying to pull a fast one on me. Has I not asked for a description first that guy could of claimed four gold rings in the area he picked out.

I can help you find your lost ring or jewelry. I am an experienced metal detector enthusiast from the South Jersey area. I recently returned a white gold engagement ring that was lost in a backyard, and a woman's wedding band lost at a swim club..

If you lost your ring in an outdoor area, and have a rough idea where it was dropped or fell, I can most likely find it.

sounds like a smart idea but I would return an occasional lost ring which i have done in the past once I got a call about 11:30 pm from a freind which lost her engagement ring and met her about ohe-half hour later at a park and within 20 minuites she got her ring back This was back in the 1970"s with an old metretect
