Hi i was given permission to hunt to old banks. One was built in 1898 and the other one was built in 1916. They are no longer banks. One is a shop and the other is a visitor center by an old railroad that is no longer in service. I was wondering if anyone ever hunted an old bank before? If so what are some of the coins did you find? I cant wait to hunt these to spots. Chris

Well they are just old building, so hunt them like any other. A long the walkways and paths. Also check out the back of the building may be a old path to an outhouse back there.

Go Up Go Down

Banks throughout the ages have had to be scrupulous when counting and storing money so it's unlikely that they would present any coins at all. Stores, on the other hand, have always had coins go astray under counters and so forth. It it's too much bother to recover it, that's often where it still resides. Look for loose floorboards and see what you can find under them. Both coins that slipped into the cracks and sometimes ready cash wind up there. In drawers, look underneath them or for false bottoms. The same with cupboards. Safes can also be hidden quite craftily so don't overlook any little hidey holes.

Good luck and have fun!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
