Go Up Go Down

Four hours yesterday of wandering around the dog park and playing fields, and the adjacent school playground, and down to the beach as well. I found $2.10 on the beach and and an old 2 cent piece on the playing fields. Apart from that all i got was trash, lots of bottle tops, aluminium cans and a nail and a washer. Either the people around these parts don't drop anything or i'm doing something wrong.
Don't get me wrong, i had a good morning and got the best part of the day, but digging up trash isn't the most rewarding pastime.
maybe with summer coming the beaches will start to get productive.
Who else seems to be nothing more than a trash collector sometimes?

cheers,
JJ

I think Australians are tight fisted with their goods, mate. Unless there's a lot of pressure by other detectorists, there's not much else that explains the sparse finds. Do you occasionally have good days?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

depends what you mean by good days, do i find a lot?  no.  do i enjoy getting out of the house? yes.
I'm still learning the finer points of the detector, so i haven't been expecting to find
hordes of treasure, but a little something to encourage me is nice.
Actually hordes of treasure would be nice as well  Funny

Lots of treasure is always good.

Let me suggest you try the tot lots. Surprisingly, they hold a lot of goodies in a small space. You'll also be doing a good service by removing nails, metal can bits and other sharp objects as you sweep through finding coins and the occasional jewelry item.

Tot lots are the sand pit playgrounds with the metal play equipment in them. Sometimes school grounds aren't fenced in and you can do them on weekends.

It definitely is good exercise. I spent 4 hours digging yesterday at an old civil war field and only found 2 nails.
