Does anyone know when beaver tail pull tabs were used ? Does finding those mean you're in an old area ?

Hello Cali Hunter . The good news , You could be searching a Great Area , with potential of finding  pre-1964 silver coins . Pull tabs came out around 1963 . The bad news , pull tabs were made for 20 years .
I am always optimistic though , so keep searching that area to find a few more clues then you can decide whether to continue where you are at , or go to a new search area.

Best Regards..... Great.....Eugene

The sound of a pull tab can overwhelm most people because it's so loud. After you dig the loudest of them up in a thorough clean up, go back and listen very, very carefully for those whispers of sound that indicate a deep target. That's the real payoff for you. Once you clean out the trash, those little background warbles which you have been ignoring are the only sound left and they normally mean real goodies.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

The snap top plan was sold to Alcoa in early 60s. Alcoa talked to Iron City Brewrey (my old time favorite I might add) and they started using them in 1962.

Ahhhh....... IC light

Just to keep on the leading edge of the bottle technology ....

Pittsburgh Brewing Company (PBC) this week announced the nationwide rollout of new 12 ounce aluminum bottles for it's Iron City Beer. The new bottles produced by Alcoa are 3 times thicker than a typical aluminum can and will retail for about $1 more per case. The bottle's advantage is it's ability to keep the beer colder longer- up to 50 minutes longer and the fact it's unbreakable and re-sealable.
