Is there a place on this site that has listings of where to get a metal detector fixed, because mine is out of warranty.  It is a Whites 950 Eclipse, I stopped using it for about a year, then I changed the batteries and it will not power on at all.  Got any  solutions?  What are the best metal detectors to use in Western SC?

Welcome Odie from NT Australia , if your detector was working fine could be a case of corrosion on a battery   terminal they usually don't deterioate sitting un-used , could be an easy fix , cheers Mick

Send it to Whites!

You do not say if you left batteries in if to go south.

Yes the batteries were left in, but no evidince of corrosion on the terminals.  What did you mean by going south?  I love your laughing hound dog.  It reminds me of me.  I live in Pickens, SC what would be the best metal detector for this area?

Odie, depending on what is wrong, any technician might be able to help you. Your best option had already been mentioned. Send it to White's for repair.

Chances are, if it was working fine before, that the problem is mechanical like you have been advised. Check for disconnected wires, a corroded battery holder or, heaven forbid, one of your batteries being inserted backwards!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
