but it wasn't called Lost Treasure until about 1975, long after Latham took control (before 1975 it was two magazines - True Treasure and Treasure World - and one of them came out in odd-numbered months and the other in even-numbered months.)

Yea I remember that now you got me thinking guess I will go look up Bills mag.

Was Bill the founder of the National Treasure Hunter's League?  And was he the owner of the D-Tex detector line?

We ARE going back now!

I remember Ray Smith's name, but I never knew anything about him.  I still have a copy of the National Treasure Hunters League magazine.

Come on help an old man out

One of us who remember this stuff helping out another one would be like the blind leading the blind!

" Western Treasures" became "Western & Eastern Treasures" which I sold a lot of articles to, in both versions.  I enjoyed the Long John Latham magazines more than the modern version of the magazine.  Sold several stories to him, too.  I also still subscribe to "Lost Treasure" and to "W&ET" too.

Thanks Dan for the comment on my Compass collection.

I guess you all was into it more then me.   I just remember the one and didn't think it was all true but it sure fueled the fire.

My dad took me to a friend of his house.

He had a Gimpy Leg son.  Twisted Ankle Poor Indian guy.

He wanted to take me out Quail hunting and we ended up buy a bunch a what he called Bat Caves.

They were drifts into every hill we walked buy.

I'm sure there all closed up buy now but they were just West of San Xavier mission.

Some went into the Hills hundreds of feet.

Sure wish I had more time to stomp around.

Fortunately for me, my local library has a quite a few of them back in the stacks IF you know where to look.
Growing up I'd much rather have one of those old treasure mags than a comic book.  Good thing, too, since my Dad was far more willing to give me an advance on my allowance to cover the cost of "educational" reading material than he was to cover comics.
